Today we see Tim Luley, plumbing engineer extraordinaire, off into retirement. KBSO is honored to have been a part of his storied 40-year career. We asked Tim what made his career special over the years, and he said he is appreciative for all the people he has had the opportunity to work  with along the way that have made his career so memorable and fun. He was happy to end his career with KBSO Consulting because the work environment is one of camaraderie with people who care. From telling jokes, playing hilarious pranks, riding bikes around the office, and winning at Top Golf, Tim has found ways to make work fun regardless of how many hours he has to work.

Tim found the most rewarding projects of his career to be those in the healthcare sector where he could have an impact on many people’s lives. The two projects that stuck out to him as the most memorable  were the Indiana Spine Group and the Indiana Donor Network. He has become a mentor for our young plumbing designers alongside Kipp Cox, with whom he has worked with for 12 years. Tim’s advice to young plumbers out there is to never underestimate the value of building solid work relationships with everyone that you meet throughout your career. Do not be afraid to pick up the phone and call someone and talk to them instead of sending an email. It might not make the difference in that one project, but it will start to build as you work on many projects.

Tim has not had a chance to plan what he wants to do in his retirement, but his list of potential future endeavors is impressive, including not only fun like fly fishing or travelling, but taking classes to learn new talents and giving back to the community.  KBSO was proud to donate to a charity that is special to Tim, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides scholarships and support to the families of fallen and severely wounded Special Operators. We appreciate all that Tim has accomplished and have proudly presented him with his membership card as an Honorary KBSO Member for Life, which includes a plethora of benefits such as an open office policy, generous KBSO swag and an annual invitation to KBSO’s holiday party.
